This activity aimed to provide prospective students with broader insights into admission pathways, study programs, and various scholarship opportunities available at USU. The bazaar was expected to help students better understand the selection process and prepare themselves more effectively.
USU offers 49 undergraduate programs with a total capacity of 7,460 seats across three main admission pathways: the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP), the National Selection Based on Test (SNBT), and the Independent Student Selection (SMM). Additionally, there is a Superior Achievement-Based Selection (SBPU) pathway for students with outstanding academic and non-academic achievements.
In his remarks, USU Vice-Rector I, Prof. Dr. Edy Ikhsan, S.H., M.A., emphasized that this event aimed to help prospective students choose the right major according to their interests and talents. "This socialization provides great benefits for schools and students to understand the SNPMB USU 2025 selection mechanism better. With thorough preparation and accurate information, the chances of being accepted into USU will be higher. Don't hesitate to choose a major that aligns with your passion because everyone can achieve their dreams," said Prof. Edy.
On the same occasion, the Director of USU's Directorate of Educational Development, Ir. Ikhsan Siregar, S.T., M.Eng., stated that USU is committed to providing transparent information to reduce errors in major selection. He also highlighted that in 2025, USU will not impose any blacklist on any schools, ensuring equal opportunities for all students.
USU also offers various scholarship programs for students facing financial difficulties. The Director of USU's Directorate of Student Achievement and Alumni Relations, Rahma Yurliani, M.Psi., Psychologist, mentioned that the number of scholarship recipients at USU continues to increase annually, both from the government and private sector partners.
The event was well-received by various parties, including school principals, teachers, and students in attendance, as it strengthened relationships and provided additional insights for prospective students preparing for the selection process at Universitas Sumatera Utara. As a token of appreciation, the committee distributed souvenirs to participants who asked questions during the Q&A session. The event concluded with a group photo, capturing the shared spirit and enthusiasm. Through this initiative, USU hopes that more students gain a clearer understanding of the selection pathways at USU and grow more confident in making their academic choices.
