The Indonesian Ministry of Transportation Conducts Initial Coordination for the Development of an Educational Partnership with USU

The coordination meeting between the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation and Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) was held to discuss potential educational collaborations for Master’s and Doctoral programs aimed at strengthening human resource development within the transportation apparatus.

Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) welcomed a visit from the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia through the Human Resources Development Agency for Transportation (BPSDMP) as part of the Initial Coordination for the Development of an Educational Partnership under the Ministry of Transportation’s Pilot Degree Program.


The meeting took place on Tuesday, 18 November 2025, in the Transformation Towards the Ultimate (TTU) Meeting Room, 3rd Floor of the USU Rectorate Building. The event was attended by representatives from BPSDMP, the Acting Head of USU’s Academic Bureau, Teuku Faisal, S.Kom., and the Manager of Educational Assessment and Development, Mahatir Muhammad, S.Farm., M.Si., Apt.


BPSDMP explained that this coordination serves as the first step in preparing an educational collaboration, which includes plans for the implementation of Master’s and Doctoral programs aligned with the needs of human resource development for transportation personnel. The program also encompasses scholarship support, competency enhancement, and capacity building for transportation human resources through academic pathways.


Through this meeting, the Ministry of Transportation presented a range of programs mapped out for implementation in collaboration with higher education institutions, including USU, as part of efforts to improve the competence of transportation personnel and strengthen institutional capacity within the education sector. USU warmly welcomed the coordination initiative and expressed hope that collaboration with the Ministry of Transportation will expand the university’s contribution to supporting national human resource development, particularly in the transportation sector.
