The Directorate of Educational Development at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) organized a Technical Training Program for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Assessors on July 20–21, 2026, at the Student Centre Hall, 2nd Floor, Universitas Sumatera Utara. The program aimed to enhance the understanding and competencies of prospective assessors in conducting Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessments within the university.
The event was officially opened by the Director of the Directorate of Educational Development, Prof. Dr. Rudi Hartono, S.Hut., M.Si. In his opening remarks, he stated that the implementation of RPL is one of the university's efforts to broaden access to higher education while ensuring that the recognition of prior learning achievements is conducted objectively, transparently, and in accordance with established standards.
The technical training featured Hartoto, S.Pd., M.Pd. as the keynote resource person. He delivered presentations on the philosophy and implementation of RPL, assessment procedures, credit transfer and credit acquisition, assessment simulations, and the use of supporting systems for RPL implementation. Participants also took part in discussion sessions, practical assessment exercises, and presentations of their simulation results.
The program was attended by leaders from the faculties and the Graduate School, including deans, vice deans for academic affairs, student affairs, and alumni affairs, the Director and Deputy Director of the Graduate School, as well as representatives from the Directorate of Educational Development and the Directorate of Quality Assurance.
Through this program, USU expects to further improve the quality of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) implementation across the university while supporting continuous enhancement of educational quality.
The Technical Training Program for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Assessors was officially closed by Way Yantono Saing, S.Si., Institutional Manager at the Directorate of Educational Development, who expressed his appreciation to the resource person and all participants for their active participation and commitment to strengthening the implementation of RPL at Universitas Sumatera Utara.
