USU Students Achieve Outstanding Results at the 2026 Innovative Social Ideas Competition

The success of Universitas Sumatera Utara students in the 2026 KGSI competition demonstrates the contribution of young generations in presenting creative ideas for the advancement of education in the digital technology era.

Students of Universitas Sumatera Utara successfully won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in the 2026 Innovative Social Ideas Competition (KGSI) themed “Empowering Education in the Digital Era.” The event was organized by Narasi, the Australian Embassy to Indonesia, and USU on Wednesday (13/05/2026) at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) USU, Medan.

 

The first-place winner was Aura Savinka Balqis from the English Literature Study Program, class of 2022, through her project titled Digital Learning Companion: AI Literacy and Fact-Checking Microclass. The program was designed to improve students’ digital literacy by teaching the critical, ethical, and responsible use of artificial intelligence.

 

Meanwhile, second place was awarded to M. Ghozi Muzzaki from the Food Technology Study Program, class of 2023, while third place was earned by Nur Syafika from the Law Study Program, class of 2025.

 

The competition also featured Narasi Founder Najwa Shihab, Australian Ambassador to Indonesia Rod Brazier, and Vice Rector for Academic, Student Affairs, and Alumni Affairs of USU, Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Z. Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., as members of the judging panel.
