The meeting took place on Friday, 13 February 2026, at the Academic Senate Meeting Room, 3rd Floor of the USU Rectorate Building. The visit formed part of a broader initiative to reinforce policies and practices that promote inclusivity and equal access for students with disabilities in higher education.

The KND delegation was led by Dante Rigmalia, Chair of the National Disability Commission, accompanied by Kikin Tarigan, KND Commissioner; Try Manullang, Special Expert; and M. Fachrul Rozi, Executive Assistant to the Chair of KND.


Representing Australia Awards in Indonesia were Tea Naibaho, Program Manager at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (Australian Embassy); Lia Marpaung, GEDSI Advisor (Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion); and Anindya Citta, Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning (MEL), Inclusion, and Accessibility Manager.

From USU, the meeting was attended by Dr. Joiverdia Arifiyanto, S.H., M.H., Secretary of the Directorate of Education Development; Muhammad Zeinizen, Head of the Student Affairs Division of the Bureau of Academic and Student Affairs; Way Yantono Saing, Head of the Administrative Services Subdivision; along with other members of the academic community.

The audience served as a strategic platform to strengthen collaboration in advancing the implementation of inclusive and equitable higher education policies, while supporting equal access and opportunities for students with disabilities at Universitas Sumatera Utara.
