Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) conducted the 2026 Independent Student Admission Selection (SMM) over a three-day period from 13 to 15 June 2026. The selection process was attended by 6,731 applicants, who participated in computer-based examinations held at various test locations across the USU campus.
The number of applicants this year increased compared to the previous year, reflecting the strong public interest in pursuing higher education at Universitas Sumatera Utara through the independent admission pathway. To ensure the smooth implementation of the examination, USU prepared 16 test locations, consisting of 73 examination rooms and 1,566 computers, which were used in rotation across two sessions each day.
The examination covered several components, including the Scholastic Aptitude Test, Mathematical Reasoning, Indonesian Language Literacy, and English Language Literacy. The computer-based testing system is part of USU’s commitment to providing an effective, modern, and technology-driven admission process.
Through the implementation of the 2026 SMM, USU continues to expand access to quality higher education opportunities for prospective students while supporting the development of outstanding future generations who are ready to contribute to society and national development. The results of the 2026 SMM are scheduled to be announced on 26 June 2026.
