The release of MBKM Program Students Thematic Community Service Program (KKN-T) for Odd Semester T.A. 2024/2025 was held on Tuesday (01/10/2024) in the Rector's Bureau of the Universitas Sumatera Utara courtyard. USU Thematic Community Service Program (KKN-T) is a form of creativity and innovation in the learning process that will provide opportunities for Undergraduate Program Students (outside the health science field) to have learning experiences in the village. The selected village, which is the location of the USU KKN-T, is a very interesting learning medium for USU to fulfil the learning outcomes of graduates and develop the scientific vision of the study program. This is where the village will become a field laboratory, which will also be a foster village for community service activities from each study program involved. Through this collaboration, USU's presence in the village will benefit many parties ranging from villagers, local government, and central government to national and international investors.
522 Universitas Sumatera Utara students participated in the KKN-T Program. The students occupied 11 regencies/cities for their two-month learning experience: South Tapanuli Regency, North Labuhanbatu Regency, Langkat Regency, Serdang Bedagai Regency, Medan City, Karo Regency, Deli Serdang Regency, Simalungun Regency, Toba Regency, Dairi Regency, and Humbang Hasundutan Regency. The KKN-T participants will be accompanied by 56 Field Supervisors (DPL).
The release ceremony was opened by reading remarks from Vice Rector I, Dr. Edy Ikhsan SH, MA. In his remarks, he conveyed that participating in KKN-T is an opportunity and challenge to develop scientific competence while showing roles and responsibilities and contributing to development, especially for rural communities. "You don't have too much time to participate in KKN-T. Go happily, go home even happier, and build a sense of solidarity," said Edy Ikhsan.
