Universitas Sumatera Utara hosted the Annual Working Meeting of the West Regional BKS-PTN Academic Vice Rectors Forum, which took place at the Digital Learning Center Building, Universitas Sumatera Utara, on Tuesday and Wednesday (03-04/09/2024). This event carried two materials, namely, "Working Towards a World Class University", explained by Prof. Dr. Ni Nyoman Tri Puspaningsih, M.Si, as Vice Rector for Research at Universitas Airlangga, and "USU Internationalization in Support of the Strengthening Program for World Class Universities" explained by Prof. Rikson Asman Fertiles Siburian, Ph.D, as International Ranking Manager.
Prof. Dr. Ni Nyoman Tri Puspaningsih, M.Si, conveyed topics related to higher education, including innovation, transformation, and collaboration in the academic field. "Regarding the important role of industry and activities that can be carried out to advance this sector, the importance of collaboration between various parties, such as society, academics, and industry practitioners, to achieve these goals," she said.
Prof. Rikson Asman Fertiles Siburian S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D. also discussed strategies to develop programs that can increase internationalization and institutional competitiveness. He explained that efforts that can be made include strengthening cooperation with foreign partners because it can improve academic reputation and optimizing existing resources.
Prof. Dr Ir. Agussabti, M.Si., IPU, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Universitas Syiah Kuala, closed the event. He appreciated the activities of the Annual Work Meeting of the West BKS-PTN Academic Vice-Rector Forum, which took place at Universitas Sumatera Utara, and hoped that universities in Indonesia could continue to develop and collaborate in the future.
